  • Mortgage prepayment penalty: In certain cases a penalty may be charged by a lender when a mortgage is paid off before its due date.
  • Termite inspection fee: For an inspection for possible damage caused by termites (and, in some areas, beetles and carpenter ants).
  • Loan points: Charges paid by buyer and/or seller at settlement.. A point equals 1 percentage point of the buyer’s loan amount.
  • Taxes: Payment of taxes for the portion of the year during which the seller owned the property.
  • Revenue taxes: Depending on local practices, city, county and/or state tax-stamp charges, based on the home sales price.
  • Recording fees: For recording the transferred deed, mortgage status and various releases.
  • Real estate commission: The brokerage fee, typically based on a percentage of the sales price of a home.
  • Legal fees: For an attorney’s advice and representation, if necessary.
Possible Moving Costs
  • Mover’s charges: Costs of shipment and mover’s services, based on weight or volume, distance to destination, packing charges, carton purchase, loading and unloading.
  • Liability insurance: Several options are available for protecting your possessions from damage in transit.
